Once a student is accepted for enrollment, you will be provided the forms we need to have on file. We also include a cover letter that you will submit to the school you are exiting, and their team will send us the remaining pertinent information. That's the hard part.
We generally find that incoming students are quickly welcomed by both faculty and the other students, and roll right in to their grade. If we discover that your student needs additional support in a certain area, we'll either spend extra time with them, or meet with the parents to plan a course of action, which might include some additional practices or possibly a short term tutor.
We feel strongly about making sure your student meets or exceeds academic goals appropriate for their age/grade or individual ability. Our students take an AimsWeb Probe three times a year to give us a snapshot of whether they are on target. This probe is widely used by school systems and respected for the metrics it uses to assess progress. It helps LHA make any adjustments to a students workload, supporting those lagging behind or challenging those who are exceeding the national norms.
Yes! Graduates have consistently hit the ground running as they entered high school. While every student has their individual performance abilities, they all agree that they were more than prepared for both the academic challenges as well as having a firm footing in their faith and Biblical values.
We will take as much time as you can offer, or as little time as you have to give. In other words, we do not have set expectations for parental volunteerism at LHA. We understand that different families have different challenges, and their ability to volunteer may ebb and flow. We often have both in school and out of school work that can be done. We ask for everything from shuttle drivers to party planners, from lunch aides to prayer warriors.
Our families come from several of the local Christian churches, so we identify ourselves as multi-denominational. It is our mission to teach and practice fundamental Bible truths, but leave the responsibility of guiding the student spiritually to the family. Our values are conservative, but we are not shy about integrating a Biblical perspective into any and all lessons. We spend time together in prayer circle and in worship and praise.
Our materials come from several widely respected publishers such as Abeka, Bob Jones University Publishing and other accredited academic publishing houses. Additionally, teachers are constantly creating unique supplements to their lessons. Our goal is to provide a very solid education, but shroud it in a Biblical Worldview. We teach and model values and behaviors which we believe best equip the students to be able to stand up for what is right, and excel in their future field of study.
